There's something about Japanese woodblock prints that are just very deeply compelling. Though I'd note pedantically) that this piece belongs not to ukiyo-e, but to the post-1900 shin-hanga movement, characterised by a shift from impressionism to realism and towards greater technical finesse.

Incredibly beautiful place. Try and spend a couple of days there. Temples galore, dwarf deer wandering town, the world's largest rice scoop. We stayed in a ryokan halfway up the mountain and watched tanuki at night trying to catch koi in the ryokan pond.
