A favourite related exchange is when he’s explaining Ferengi society to Sisko (I think), and that “Ferengi don’t want to not be exploited, they want to be the ones doing the exploiting.” (Something like that.)
And that is just…so very much like the humans that run this world.
Yeah. I am glad the Ferengi got retconned in DS9 into being miserable little libertarian scammer satires vs whatever the fuck they were supposed to be originally
Yeah it's a beautiful series, definitely my favorite and has aged the best of the 90s era. I love TNG but DS9 did an immaculate job taking the framework established by TNG and pushing it in interesting directions
For any who don’t know: As far as social and political commentary goes, it’s the aliens who are analogous to our modern culture. The humans and Starfleet are the completely imagined but optimistic hope of us becoming far more enlightened than we are now.
I also love that he got to "redeem" ferengi, he was a ferengi in their first appearance of them in TNG and apparently did such a bad job the Ferengi ended up getting sidelined as a MAJOR tng villain.
Wait... the principal didn't even get got by the monster at Graduation, did he?
Little emotional terrorist just walked away smoother than Angel.
Am I remembering correctly?
A better existence was and still is possible. But things are bleak right now, and people will feel that it cannot be done. I hope for the safety of all of our siblings.

It's been a decade at least since I last watched Buffy or Angel.
