Love this hard-won attitude. It's taken me so many years and so much therapy to allow myself to be bad at things, but I'm glad it's a skill I'm getting to develop!!
I find that it has a short work time and needs to be worked in sections as opposed to a whole piece at once which can be very different from water color. If you wanna work it in layers you'll have to do so with minimal water or it'll reactivate the paint below it. I like it a lot because it's matte
I hated gouache when I first started using it. I kept practicing though because I loved the results from other artists and now it’s my favourite painting medium!
Didn't Bob Ross say something like, "there are no mistakes, only happy little accidents"? What a blessing that you're looking forward to trying again. It's the inspiration that's helping me to get going today. Thank you for that, and have so much fun!
Gouache was a medium that forced me to return to beginner practice pages to learn. I'm still not proficient, but I'm told that eventually, the end results will be worth it all. Keep going! You can make it work!
Making mistakes is part of learning and discovery. If you read it somewhere someone else found out. In the end you know how to create great art because of it
Thats all anybody can ever do, just keep getting back up, theres so many tines in the last 2 yrs ive wanted to give up entirely because i keep failing but I cant live with the idea of knowing i couldnt do it, so i just keep pushing
You’ve got this. Every time you’ll get slightly better. My first attempts at watercolor were horrid, but each time I tried again, I got got better. Failing is just a part of learning and being an artist.
Genuinely a really good attitude to have towards your own art
The best way to grow as an artist is to maintain the determination of a cockroach that has been smacked with a news paper roll several times and still refuses to die
Haven't painted since college, but when I was learning I remember gouache being the first time I had fun with my assignments for class. Keep at it, and have fun with it!
As a traditional water colorist, who only uses white guache to hide my mistakes, I find guache to be very a mysterious medium. Congrats on branching out.

I cut out parts i like from old such pieces, and add them as a collage element sometimes.
