Nuclear is big, HPC is 36 GW and will generate around 26 TWh/y @ 85% availability, ~10% of current UK demand. IMO (not a university position) it would be a great low carbon source if it wasn't so expensive and soooo slow to build. HPC started construction (not planning, spades in the ground) in 2017

Hydro is so geography dependent, and adding more often means flooding a large area. I would be surprised if there’s many good candidate locations left in the UK.

Agree with that. There is one new pumped-hydro storage station in train by SSE Renewables at Coire Glas and expansion of Drax's pumped hydro at Cruachan but very little new hydro generation in prospect. But hey, we are blessed with some of the best on- and off-shore wind resource worldwide.

EV sales might be faltering in some other European countries but not in the UK.
