Elja is his forest name! He got the name Ashley by his adoptive mother and remembrance of a giant Ash tree that burned down in his village. The dead tree is still standing.
Ashley has a twin brother named Mivlo, who got taken away by Garleans when they we're around 4 years old. To this day, Ashley barely remember him, but knows he has a twin brother somewhere.
The scars on his face we're done by the Voidsent that burned down and k*lled his village, leaving him the only survivor. It's a miracle he was still alive when his adoptive family rescued him.
Ash is a Prince from a undiscovered area on Eorzea. It's not shown on any map. (yet) The family that adopted him are Royals to a Kingdom, he has a brother who's the Heir.
