I am not against criticising Emery by the way. But under the circumstances he was having to fit round pegs in square holes, so probably thought it was the best way to try and solidify.

Bailey is better facing the opposition goal and running at them. He spent most of the second half being the last man as a right wing back. Absolute waste of his strengths.
We had 4 fit defenders - play them and then play to our strengths.
4? Disasi (9 prem appearances all season) and Konsa (just back from injury). Both right sided. Never played together. Barely met lol. Digne must be exhausted. Maatson. A young very promising but by no means acclimated Spanish second division right back.

Why not go with Malen who has not only looked sharp in his handful of cameos but also can’t play in the upcoming CL fixtures?
I’m by no means Emery out, but so much of yesterday was quite frankly baffling.

Not what I'd called strength.
Our strength is our attack which we altered and limited with 5 at the back.
We need to play to our strengths - attack - not try to stifle the opposition.
Watch Tanswell explain it on 1874 - how we struggle with their wing backs spreading our defence too wide. Why we always struggle with CP.
CP's play style is our Achilles heel.
With a more familiar defence I think we do better.
Feels like over thinking. Players didn’t seem comfortable and didn’t play to strengths.
Bogarde is a holding midfielder, play him there with either Tielemans or McGinn.
