Throughout recorded history, we've seen churches actively resist simple moral advances like greater civil rights, gender equality, increasing literacy, abolishing slavery, torture, etc. And when they finally happen, the churches immediately claim, "That was god's law all along!"
Because the human beings have free will, they can accept God, or they can deny his existence! Other factors are greed, temptation, which also provide them with the seeds of a corrupted spirit and nature!
Religion does not belong in schools. Keep it in the church or the parochial schools, but donβt force it down the public school throat. It does not belong in school.
If you outsource your morality you can justify any evil. It's never ever "you" it's something external. One can act as though they're just cheating the rules instead of following an internal compass.
Flip that around. Jesus is special - very God who created all things, came and lived a perfect life. At the name of Jesus, every knee will bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord.
How can we be adopted as co-heirs with one who is so special? God's grace through that same Jesus.
Religions just give people justification to feel superior to others. Have you noticed how in every religion, the followers are that godβs chosen people?
Based on the OP, it seems seeking justification to feel superior is not exclusive to the religious. It is a sinful tendency of all people. It is only Christianity that has the answer for our sins. I am not superior - my sins, pride, etc. are many. It is Jesus, who died for our sins, who is great.
I feel that is correct most of the time lately especially since organized Religion seems to have gotten in bed with a corrupt government and that many of the arrested pedophiles have been active in their church either as clergy or as lay leaders. However there are still some churches that aren't
I agree there are still good churches out there. Iβm also about 5 miles away from the Gateway Mega Church where the congregation is going to have to pay the #PedoPastor millions. Yet again, #NotADragQueen
a) want to leave no choice in the question
and b) would not mind if teachers took the same liberties with the students the pastors do with Roman Catholic altar boys.
Fraud Christian values are learned by the kids of Christianity.
Fear and hate instead of empathy, compassion, respect!
Ban religion, it's s cult.
ALL religions!
