I guess the one ironic upside is, the influx of people going to trade school will drive down the cost of labor as we see a glut of newly certified tradesmen in the marketplace. Gotta love that supply and demand free market capitalism.

I mean, that WOULD be the after effect of some kind of "American Maoism"/"Great Leap Forward," but you actually have to SPEND for that and these dumb ghouls are just posturing against their culture-war enemies at this point. There isn't an infrastructure to do this, and they ain't building it 🤷♂️
"Encourage more Americans to learn skills trades" is ACTUALLY good advice - it's what I tell young people going into creative/tech fields when they ask me for advice ("Get the degree you need/want, also learn something that will pay bills and you can use") - but REAL federal investment...
...and not this dumb bullsh-- Trump is pretending to play with against Harvard would look like something NEITHER party has the guts to actually propose to be meaningfully transformative (IMO)
Like, I can fix A LOT of my own car, I can plant a garden, do a lot of basic home repair, minor electrical/plumbing, etc - but I REALLY regret not learning one full mechanic/skills trade in school that I could've done pro when things were lean and I had more strength for it 🤷♂️
Given how many of the trades still operate on the apprentice system, or involve a lot of unlicensed contractors working under one person with a license, I doubt any attempt to significantly increase the number of skilled trades will work that great.
Ah, yes. The old "art, science and creativity aren't real jobs" play, made famous by almost everybody's dads, grandpas and fathers-in-law. These bozos really want to create a serf class who do nothing but toil away all day while they sit on their fat bigoted asses. Blow it out your ear, Leavitt.
MAGAts: We need more, plumbers and electricians. Generations who work in factories. Slavery wasn't so bad; they learned valuable skills!
Me: OK, if these jobs are so great, why don't YOU do 'em, jackass? Seriously, resign from your cushy positions, grab some tools and get to work. You'll have fun!
