They weren't libertarians, they had support from great powers (France, Spain, and the Netherlands all supported them and said German mercs switch sides to train their soldiers), and their leaders (especially Washington) were mostly former British officers.
It’s a meme not a term paper….Plus your way generalizing. Alot of officers from other countries serving with Americans. “German merc’s” were captured ( Saratoga/ Trenton). They kept them in German communities and then stayed here. Many Germans were already here and fought they’re own people
