If privacy matters to you, the free Proton VPN is a solid choice. We personally go with Mullvad VPN. It’s about the price of a coffee each month and adds more efficiency. Dropping the Proton link below.

What about all the Proton’s CEO controversy about supporting Trump and far right movement? Also, ProtonMail already gave away logs to identify an activist that got arrested.
If your privacy is at risk, choose Mullvad. We offered a free option for those who cannot afford better. We do not spread unverified rumors or conspiracies—only facts matter. Idle chatter does not interest us.
Thanks. This thread is helpful. For more $ ProtonVPN can be bundled with email/cloud storage/password manager, which is simple if nothing else. Offline storage and password managers are easy to find. Any recommendations for safer emails if someone goes with Mullvad?
NordVPN is effective, but the company will hand over your identity to the government if required. Mullvad offers far superior anonymity, and even they do not know who you are.
Mullvad VPN does not require personal data and assigns a random account number. While they momentarily see IP traffic to route connections, they do not log or store any data. Their no-logs policy has been independently audited, ensuring true privacy.
Proton VPN is free, so you cannot expect the same level of privacy as a paid service like Mullvad. While based in Switzerland with strong privacy laws, Proton must comply with legal requests through Swiss courts. However, their no-logs policy means there is little data to hand over.
No, we are not sponsored. We simply share what we personally use, with full transparency. We even provided the Proton link as an alternative. Some people will always be paranoid, but that’s not our problem.
Mullvad VPN prioritizes anonymity with no personal data required, no logs, and strong privacy protections. Surfshark offers more features, better streaming support, and lower long-term pricing but requires an account. If privacy is your top concern, Mullvad is the better choice.
VPN is not enough. You can still easily be tracked by fingerprinting, cookies and spyware. Windows 11 and apple are dangerous, they have AI that sees everything you're doing. (google windows recall, I'm deadass) Get Linux, Mullvad VPN and Mullvad browser. They require no personal info to buy.
If you're concerned about government firewalls one day censoring us like Russia or China, consider Trojan. It is hard to setup, but it is very effective at making your VPN traffic look like HTTPS traffic. I use this for my Russian friend when they were blocking VPNS. Contact me for assistance.
Depends on what you’re doing. Use a VPN for privacy and speed. Use Tor for strong anonymity but slower browsing. For both, use Tor over VPN (VPN first, then Tor). If privacy is your goal, a no-logs VPN is usually enough. For most people, VPN is the more convenient choice.
The Proton Foundation is a Swiss non-profit and does not have shareholders. It is therefore separated from individual financial interests and must act in the best interest of the Proton community in perpetuity. https://proton.me/foundation
You're going to get a lot of "Anonymous" named accounts. Most ARE legit Anons who might not personally know one another, but we've run into one another on various other Ops or whatever. Occasionally there's a brand new Anon or a random fake just using the mask for attention.
A fake account can be pretty easy to spot actually. It generally WON'T have any of the larger and established Anon accounts following it. A lot of us are very aware of what security issues can arise by someone who might not really BE Anon, establishing themselves and trying to get into Ops. con't
And greatly appreciated to all of you. Followed Anonymous on Twitter til musk took over. Anonymous taught me a lot of the outside world horrors to be prepared for the horrors home. I Thank All of You
Sentiment on Mozilla VPN? Paid annually it's $4.99/mo. I've had it for years and love it. Mozilla has always been about privacy but am curious what others think.
Mozilla VPN operates on Mullvad’s servers, which is beneficial. However, Mullvad offers greater anonymity, requiring no logs or email. For those prioritizing privacy, Mullvad remains the superior choice.
We sought a free VPN to support those who cannot afford one and provided alternatives for those who take the time to read instead of hastily reacting at the sight of “Proton” on their screen.
Thank you from this tech challenged granny! I will be checking those both out. I’d gladly give up a coffee or even two for a little extra privacy. Especially right now.
I am transitioning away from an old AOL email (yes, i go back that far) and Gmail to Proton mail. I highly recommend it. I am willing to pay for privacy and security.
I wish I saw this earlier. I recently purchased 24 months with ExpressVPN. So far it’s good and I like their add ons to remove my name from directories online
I pay for Proton because it allows me to replace the whole Google app suite pretty much. And also if you pay for a plan you can route your mail servers through Proton using your own domain not just the https://Proton.me or https://p.me domains. Just note old phones will take a bit to decrypt your email to read it.

Arigato gazaimus.
I hate subscriptions. I hate YouTuber-promoted VPN services even more.

For mine, this account is cosplay. Nothing says otherwise.
Account even comes replete with VPN advertising.
No, thanks. Please keep your fashy links to yourself.
I'm brand new at all this and just picked up my first VPN after hours of deliberation. So it's an honest question.
