TALES FROM THE DARK SCREEN DAY 1:
THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1974)
I’m gonna try to do the daily artsy countdown to Halloween this year as well & do something special this year! For day 1 I had to tribute this horror classic that premiered in Austin TX 50 years ago today #TalesFromTheDarkScreen

Comments
To me the lack of Hollywood polish makes it look like it's really happening. No gimmicks, no winks to the audience.
Like some film students drove to Texas for their senior project, but turned down a bad road and really got murdered.
STEPHEN KING’S IT (1990)
“We all float down here…”
For day 2 of #TalesFromTheDarkScreen I wanted to tribute a classic that genuinely gave me chills in its novel format (my 1st @stephenking.bsky.social book!) & movie format thanks to the fantastic Tim Curry!
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (1984)
For day 3 of #TalesFromTheDarkScreen I had to tribute a personal fave horror that was released 40 years ago (in Nov). Directed by the late Wes Craven and starring Robert Englund as the horror icon Freddy Krueger.
SALEM’S LOT (1979)
Both horror maestros Tobe Hooper and @StephenKing are back for day 4 of #TalesFromTheDarkScreen. SALEMS LOT is genuinely one of the scariest books by King I’ve read & this 1979 adaptation by Hooper was no less scary with guaranteed creepy moments!
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968)
“They're coming to get you, Barbra!
Look, there comes one of them now!”
For day 5 of #TalesFromTheDarkScreen I had to tribute one of my absolute fave horror, Maestro George A. Romero’s NOTLD, released 56 years ago this week.
PSYCHO (1960)
"She wouldn't even harm a fly."
Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece (and an absolute fave horror movie of mine) is tributed for day 6 of #TalesFromTheDarkScreen.
Wanted to try something different for this one and it might be my fave so far :)
CUJO (1983)
"Something is wrong with CUJO, mom."
Day 7 of #TalesFromTheDarkScreen features another @stephenking.bsky.social adaptation, based on his 1981 novel CUJO. Directed by Lewis Teague and starring Dee Wallace. A masterpiece of tension!
