Now, I'm gonna say a few things here that may be hard truths. First, *there is no reason law school textbooks should cost $300, or anywhere close.*. More generally, *there is no reason to publish a law school textbook with a big commercial publisher.* Why? Well ... 5/
First, there is nothing they can do for you that you can't do better for yourself. Typesetting? Easy: you do everything w/a simple MSFT Word template. Cover design? C'mon, have you seen those boring commercial tombstone covers? Here's a taste of what you can do if you publish your own book ... 6/
Marketing? Give me a break. Commercial publishers' marketing is primitive. You can do better just by letting people in your discipline know that the textbook exists. In a world of $300 commercial textbooks, a free or low-cost alternative of comparable quality is a compelling offer. 7/
