I tell first time protestors they gotta get to the streets because it will change them and send a message. Because it does. Americans are drunk on individualism & we need to build solidarity. Protest does that.
Street actions break down barriers between us - class, race, all the ways we separate.

Americans are definitely drunk on individualism.
Folks even share snacks and seasonably appropriate drinks!
So many kindnesses demonstrated and friendships built as we fight for and with each other to all thrive together.
Seriously. Grocery store. Book store. Restaurant. Movie theater. Spread the message.
Date night? Protest. Need a family activity? Find a family friendly action.
I think folks for whom the system has worked best find it the hardest to get to an action. But that is no protection now.
They have so much knowledge.
We need not reinvent the protest wheel, the racecars have already been built.
Find people already doing it and follow their lead.
Did a good share of protesting the Vietnam War at UW Madison a while ago. Will be back to the streets now, too!

bumper sticker from that march...although, as an NYC resident, I don't actually have any bumpers😆
My favorite sign there was one that said, "Regime Change Starts At Home." I got so many photos from that day, from way up 1st Ave on down into Washington Square -- they're all in a box somewhere.
