In summary, YouTube has substantially replaced many people's TV viewing.
I'm seeing this in my own behavior and that of others around me (my kids, friends, etc.).
This is a significant shift.
Many of us can access multiple streaming services but choose YouTube when we sit down to watch TV.

When you get home from work, and you want to sit and chill, what are you watching?
1. YouTube
2. Netflix
3. Other streaming
4. Regular TV
5. Something else?

BUT YouTube is daily watching, whereas an episode of a show is not.
I started enjoy TV again, some things at a fixed hour became a gathering event in the family like in the past, the lack of analysis paralysis in choosing something, the lack of infinite choices has been somehow liberating and serendipitous
I'm hostage to Thursday Night Football's commercials right now. 🫤
May i ask what made you ask the original question?
I was curious if others were experiencing the same thing!
The YouTube algo must've picked up on my vibe... it tossed me this relevant video (interesting insights): https://youtu.be/maS69HnjXME?si=ZWvi8Dq0VFNgjEja
If you watch, let me know if you agree.
You don't need to focus on details, unlike Netflix shows which require full attention
It's just you get everything on YT except the movies, so only reason to check netflix etc.. when you wanna watch movies.
Now I'm literally surrounded by 5 screens as I type this.. from my tv and laptop down to the amazon speaker display!
