Way too many things have been made political. Environment, education, energy, infrastructure, health services, transport etc all should be driven by an informed national policy rather than an ideology driven pattern. People have linked up all issues to one camp or the other, and given up all agency

Add EVs to the long list of things that should not be partisan but are, because culture wars are relatively easy to start and effective at bringing people to your side - regardless of facts.

Right! Earlier it was picking a vehicle of choice among multiple feature combinations, but a vehicle built on a single paradigm. Now we have a choice of an alternative, better paradigm with EV power trains, and that factor is huge! Benefits far outweigh fast improving limitations.

Rivian has no public political affiliations, which is exactly what I expect from a car company, and a big part of what motivated my decision to get into an R1S. I avoided Tesla SPECIFICALLY due to its weirdo political affiliation, along with just straight up liking Rivians way more.
