$10 seems totally fair, but it is odd that the Zelda "performance upgrades only" updates are free to NSO members but the Pokemon/Metroid ones aren't. I guess because they are new games? So maybe their Switch 2 versions will be $70 vs $60 for Switch 1 versions?

Neither of those games have release dates yet either. I wouldn't be shocked if those are free updates *eventually* but it's not apples-to-apples to compare two older Zelda games to two unreleased games.

It seems to be that their Switch 2 price structure is basically a +$10 price hike across the board

"Normal" game = $70
"Premium" game = $80
"Budget" game = $50??? (based on games like Prime Remastered being $40 on Switch 1)

But what they've immediately communicated (maybe unintentionally) is that DK Bananza will be a "lesser than" experience compared to Mario Kart World, because it's $10 cheaper. And that feels not good because I want that DK game to be as good as Mario Kart World...

Target just put them up and based on this it does seem like the upgrade charge will be $20 for some games and $10 for others.

Both Zelda games are priced only $10 more than their Switch 1 counterparts. Mario Party and Kirby are $20 more and include new content.

I don't _think_ they will be, but I do _fear_ they might be simply because Nintendo has remained quiet on those games' prices.

The hardware and games look GREAT. Their biggest (only?) challenge right now is PR specifically on pricing. Being cagey about prices will only make that challenge bigger.

I don't think anybody expected Nintendo of all companies to break the $70 price ceiling on top-tier titles.

If anybody was going to do that, it was going to be Rockstar with GTA6, but there wasn't even consensus on that.

Nintendo's games are the only ones (outside of GTA lol) that hold their price. It makes more sense that they're the ones to break the price-ceiling than I expected.

And I think the shock that the $80 price points have created among consumers is a huge PR challenge for them to overcome.

Selling MKWorld for $50 as a pack-in helps with that. But who is going to buy Mario Party Jamboree Switch 2 Edition for $80!?
