As a working class American I can tell you that private insurance is the biggest scam there is.

We pay over $500 a month just to have it. I needed an MRI, "with insurance" it was $1800 out of pocket and a 2 month wait.

First: I agree with your core principle: affordable healthcare.
But Germany has an insurance based system and isn't at all like the US. It is not ideal, but a possible answer to ever rising cost of healthcare and income inequality: insurance premiums for the wealthy can be set higher.
