i've only watched two episodes so far and yet the show has wormed its way into my brain to a degree that it just randomly comes up in my thoughts, uninvited
I made it to the beginning of the second season before I realized that I cannot physically watch these people because of how abhorrent they are. Absolutely amazing acting and storytelling.
it gets so much worse/better! I think the show really picks up around ep6, so if you're already enjoying it you've got a lot of misery to look forward to
it is very much not my usual kind of show but a friend whose recommendations have always landed for me told me i should watch it, and i can absolutely see why
it'd be really easy for it to be bad but the writers on Succession are just really good and everyone is perfectly cast. soooo many all time banger lines, perfectly delivered every time
It's my plane TV. I particularly like how you start wondering "I guess being rich must really cook your brain, hmm" and then they meet another rich family and you realise: "oh wow, so the Roys are bad even in their shitty peer group".
They are horrible, terrible, broken people and once I understood that, the show clicked. It’s scary thinking “oh no, there are actual people just like this”
I think the writers sourced a lot of this stuff from the Murdochs and other similar families. Some episodes feel way too real in that respect but in a good (albeit horrifying) way.
The after-episode writer’s commentaries are very insightful btw.

they're horrible people who i am endlessly fascinated by
people with that much money and power really don't have the same relationship with humanity
and like, i KNEW that, but the show made that subtext extremely fucking text
The after-episode writer’s commentaries are very insightful btw.
