I actually hate being white. I would prefer the same skin color as my Mexican women have. Plus some white people really embarrass me because of their racism.
As a white person, I can relate to this.
However, we should've NEVER judged and discriminated those with different skin colors or sexualities/being LGBTQIA+!
Why did we EVER do that?
Well, it is now. If I can't get hired because DEI has priority, even if I'm more skilled and/or experienced, that means there's no equality and that people are hired for jobs solely based on their skin color.
That’s not how DEI works. White privilege meant that you’d be hired with less skill and experience than a POC bc white. DEI merely helped companies prioritize skilled and experienced POC who were otherwise being passed over in favor of their white counterparts.
And that’s not even getting into the fact that the group that benefited most from diversity initiatives were white women. There is no caveat to the OP. If you can’t get a job, it’s not because an unqualified POC got priority, and you’d know that if you actually cared about facts.
DEI is a misnomer. What they really mean is meritocracy. Do you believe that there was a meritocracy while only white men were hired/promoted in the 1950s? DEI is meant to correct inherent biases where people hire/promote people who look like them, not out of malice but because it’s a natural bias.
