Sigh. As long as we agree no ketchup, catsup, or any other tomato-based product is allowed, I’ll grudgingly accept that some people may put onions on a hot dog. Chili is right out. I don’t trust those people at all.

It’s the concept of “you know what would make this meat better? A completely different meat added on top!” that I don’t get. Kraut and mustard. Some people add onions. Others juggle geese. I admit that I am but a child in the wilderness when it comes to smoked meats.
This is fair. There is a place in New Orleans that puts crawfish etouffee on dogs as a topping, weird but it works. Also asian slaw (in the kraut family but spicy/sweet, not sour). 🌭
