Different population studied here. IABPShock II examined AMI related shock. Altshock -2 addressed ADHF which in other observational trials there was some benefit.

Well, so true. But both randomized trials trials are focused on shock patients and have a neutral outcome. We all know that observational data is delicate due to serveral biases. Look at our Cardiac arrest study. https://academic.oup.com/eurheartj/article/44/12/1040/6775293
As @mirvz.bsky.social writes in her article, mortality is lower than you would expect in patients with cardiogenic shock. How shocked were they really? I’m also very puzzled by the common use of adrenaline in this setting (30%).
