Me too. Only previous awareness I had of him was from a photo of him signing the bill for free lunches in Minnesota public schools. He was surrounded by cheering kids (some hugging him), & he looked as overjoyed as them. Which made for a great first impression.

My favorite story so far is how he first decided to run for office because he took a bunch of his high school students to a Bush rally to teach them about civic engagement whereupon they were interrogated by security because one of the kids had a Kerry sticker. Some genuine Mr. Smith vibes.

*I know the only reason I want Cooper is because I’m a North Carolinian, but not just because it might help our state, but bc I have seen him govern for years and he’s never disappointed me. He isn’t a moderate compromise type Dem. He’s a progressive in moderate’s clothing!
