The apartment complex I live in is made up of a lot at most 7 apartment buildings. We're a safe complex but I can't think of any parent wanting to chance which buzzer to push for each building we have there's a lot.
My sad story is that with Bella we can't have trick or treaters because she would scare them all off in a non-Halloween way but my birthday is cursed because every year I dress up Esme and we go on a walk with candy to give to children we might encounter.
This year we were only 1/4 of the way into our walk and it started spritzing and the wind was awful. It was 80°F two days ago. Last year it freaking snowed.
I still got cute photos though. Bella first, then Esme.
I have lived in a very dense town filled with kids for 7 years now and we only had a few kids come by the first year or two. It's a dying tradition in a lot of places
I've lived in this house 18 Halloweens, and many of those years we had fewer than 10 visitors. (This was one of those years.) Some years we had none. I have WAY too much leftover candy.
It took 35 (adult) years, but it finally happened for me last night. Four kids total, my new building is the most organized I’ve ever lived in. It can still happen for you!
Trick or treating is incredible now, I would have been in heaven when I was a child. There are so few kids doing it that anyone who dares to go outside and knock doors *sarcasm* gets outrageous amounts of candy. Fistfuls of sweets, full size candy bars, it's absolute mayhem.
I dated a woman whose family had a house in Ditmas Park, and I went there to hand out candy one Halloween. Trick or treaters as far as the eye could see. Too many to count. Such an awesome experience.
We didn’t used to, but apartments opened up here around Valentine’s Day near us and this year we have some for the first time ever! I’m really excited ☺️
We only got one group of kids this year. It was a big group - 6 or 8 of them. Each kid got an oversized handful of candy and a handfull of glowsticks. One of the kids actually said 'that's too much'.
It is. It's changed so much, though. I can't say that I blame parents either. When I was little ,some many many years ago you just didn't have to worry as much. My father always accompanied me and mom always checked the candy and rationed it out. 😊

And every year it either rains or snows.

I always wanted to bring my children to the US for Halloween. Never happened.
Too many people in our area of SA think Halloween is anti-Christian / Satanic.
So I would hold parties who they were small but not the same.
In my neighborhood, I'm the youngest. Everyone else is retired. 🤷
One of the few (very few!) things I miss is giving candy to trick-or-treaters.
I would absolutely buy full-sized candy bars.
It was awesome.
