A lot of furry artists draw fox and other fluffy animal tails as though the fur pile (individual hair length) is very short, with lots of fat and thick muscle beneath. But this is not the case. First, let’s look at how thin the bones of a red fox tail are:

We also know from dissection that canid tails have muscles and skin that are “tight” up against the bones. Fox tails are mostly fur ! We can see with these scientific illustrations that canid tails are mostly fur pile ! (You can also see this for yourself if you touch a real fox tail !)

With all of this in mind, let’s go back to our illustration. Let’s sketch in our thin fox tail under all this fur:

And from this, we can add in our bow; tied close to the actual tail so it won’t simply slide off. :3 This also gives us an opportunity to accentuate just how fluffy our fox tail is !

I almost felt attacked but this is all why my bandanna is around the base as to not have "clipping" issues. Long live the fluffy fox tail!
