When this meme appeared on screen at the conference in 2014 you could have heard a pin drop as jaws dropped & people in the audience including health professionals gasped in shock.

My plan was to deliver a 30 mins speech about the issues the community was dealing with because of ANZPATH. (cont)

I had much to unpack with this report, but a well known NB bully got themselves on the committee for the conference who cut my speech from 30 min back to a short 10min speech & still make it effective as possible. The meme was how I did that & still got everyone talking about my presentation.(cont).

One of the main problems was the centralisation of health care services the displacement of trans people.

Most services were only available in the capital cities of Brisbane, Sydney & Melbourne, before the city of Cairns become the 'go to' place for trans health care in Australia.(cont)

We started to see people leaving other remote & regional areas including the big cities to head up to Cairns for support, because there was long waiting lists in the big cities where support services were dominated by ANZPATH'S gatekeepers putting more strain on our own local services. (cont)

The main issue was with centralised support services was with the 'forced displacement of trans people'. Trans people were being forced to leave their home towns & primary support networks to go to the big cities for help. This often forced trans people into further hardship & poverty. (cont)
