To be fair, the MSM (ignoring the FoxNews and farther right outlets) ignored Biden's mental state for quite a long time. There were leftists and even a few non-White House Democrats who said things and were ignored. It wasn't until the debate and 50 million people watched that MSM really covered it.

I think it's a question of expectations. And - sanewashing aside - Trump has been seen as irrational and a bit crazy since 2016. Meanwhile Democrats portray themselves as more serious and like respectable adults, or something like that.
So Trump's deteriorating mental state doesn't feel like news

While it would certainly be great to get rid of Trump, and see how that changes the equation, there is a reason Vance was selected for VP. The plan (Project 2025) will continue and may even get worse (as hard as that may be to imagine).
