Typical arguments about whether cars or public transit or bikes are always better for a specific kind of trip, or a specific kind of day, are usually the wrong debate. Smart cities give choices & make multimodal trips, or days, or weeks, attractive. They support multi-modal citizens who can choose.

Bit sad they stopped offering bike spaces on the Newcastle to Hexham bus, but guess it's more important to have the service on hillier routes, and the train can take the strain along the valley.
Existing Sydney Metro and Trains allow bikes indide, but not very easy in rush hour.
Next Metro specs incl vertical bike racks inside.

A lot to do!
Stuttgart cogwheel tram - 200m ↕️, 18% 🧗max.
But trains, for example, are limited in width due to the standard for tunnels. Even if it is a closed system in flat land.
People often shy away from obtaining special permits.
Oh, you have to take a train AND bike to and from the station?
Best I can do is only the bike route or a combo of bus/train without any biking.
Enjoy!
More like a disaster in progress.
