Not focusing on cars makes better cars as well, if ya want something to go the next town over and get through the city easy, you get something as compact as a 2cv, Austin mini or fiat 500, only vehicles you need some consideration for are vans, and they thankfully are well designed already

So important to appreciate intrinsic value of streets as the essential public/social space in cities.
Streets way predate the car, & will outlive them.
Think today about their value;
- for other modes of transport- walking, cycling, trams, new modes yet to come
- for landscape, shade & microclimate

In an earlier time, I was a great admirer of San Francisco's (sadly, the late) Larry Halperin.
One thing to learn across the board may be simply that municipal governments need to be educated that such a thing as a landscape architect exists.
