Frankly, I'm discouraging them right now, because the only option is "follow all".

Following even 2-3 modest starter packs lands you with an incomprehensible fire hose of a "following" feed.

I'll revise my advice on that once Bsky has a "pin this as a list" option, not "follow all".

Sorry, I’m confused by that comment. I’ve never once hit “follow all” on a starter pack. I browse the accounts in the pack and click follow on the ones I want to follow. So of course there’s an option other than “follow all.” It just takes looking through them and being as picky as you want to be.

Thats also what I do, but when a new user clicks through, they are prompted with a “follow all” prompt. I think thats a poor design. the people who (think they) need a starter pack don’t know better.

Maybe I'm not as smart, but I dutifully followed a couple of urbanism-related starter packs and ended up with a lot of VERY dull content about people's bike rides. But through gradual culling, it's gotten more usable.

I feel like they were more useful for quickly finding your old follows early on, less so now since most of your follows have probably moved over already.
