How humiliating for Paul Weiss that they had to be saved by Perkins Coie who did what PW couldn’t - and they did it on summary judgment. If I were looking to hire a firm, I’d want the one that could win cases not the one who pays millions to settle cases that good attorneys can get tossed.

"Legally akin" to extortion payments, yes. And similar in how one storekeeper folds an entire community is put under greater and greater pressure. In this case the rule of law is put under pressure, the oaths to protect clients to the best of their ability is compromised as well.
