Mark Zuckerberg's father gave him $100,000 to start Facebook, after putting him through Philips Exeter Academy. Y'all really need to calibrate your definition of "not rich"
"Richy McRichPants' billion dollar business had humble beginnings assembling products in their basement and garage."
Me: They had a basement AND a garage? That weren't full of junk? Oh not the parents wait you meant he OWNED his own house with a basement and garage??!? At TWENTY?!
It may be that when the original poster is blocked by the person they reposted, it blocks it for everyone...to where you can't even see who they were reposting. I suppose that's a good safety measure, if true. So it doesn't promote brigading.
This is the case. It's something bsky doesn't really explain that it does but basically if you block someone all means of contact get cut, including quote skeets and linked skeets.
Eh, that depends. That could be combined income or it could be each, that's where I'd put the plausible range. It's not like they were anesthesiologists!
They put Mark through Philips Exeter and his 3 sisters through Horace Mann Prep, some of the most elite private high schools in the US, I'm pretty sure they made more than you think
Oh no they were definitely loaded, but I think all those schools have tuition under $100k/yr, so on a combined income of "only" (lol) $600k/yr that's still very doable with just a bit of planning ahead.
It's rich people saying this shit in order to protect themselves from realizing that they grew up rich and their frame of reference is hopelessly disconnected from the middle and working classes.
Nope! I've been blocked and am unable to look into this person's activities/background.
To be be clear(er): "rich" is socially constructed and its particulars can be debated, but children of those who've acquired advanced health/healing knowledge are RICH in almost every *functioning* society.
A society cannot function without life-supporting/sustaining infrastructure OR ITS TECHNICIANS (what we call doctors). They make ALL OF IT possible and if they are appropriately valued for their labor they inevitably become rich.
This natural tendency is only disrupted in hypercapitalist societies.
They're all stupid rich masquerading as dishelved dweebs, with rank halitosis, low TRT, and incel-like features whose sexuality oozes predator. These once ZETA bottom feeders have risen to the top of the fish bowl — the betas are now vying for the “alpha” title. May be best white whimpy man win.
Let’s see if the self-proclaimed tech brologarchy gives one red cent to CA’s relief efforts, u know the state that they used & abused for their own finnancial gain.
Waiting for action, but all I’m hearing is a third-grade blame game. Its not political fodder fuckers — these are peoples’ lives!
Correct. The point is to stop a pile on before it starts. You’ll still be able to see both people’s posts elsewhere on the site (if you know who the second user is)
Not sure what the blocked post says but I honestly couldn't care less weather Zucc grew up rich or not. Self made rich people are often far more vile than those who were born into it.
Turns out that the richest people around are people who started out rich. This myth of the self-made man has done a lot of harm. There are some people who worked their way up to riches within living memory, but people assume that this is normal for rich people. It isn't. They're unofficial nobility!
Perhaps we should start viewing wealth by how many people they've stepped over, harmed, punished or ruined & humanity needs to stop reflexively venerating these monsters. Poverty is not a character flaw. Excessive wealth is.
I had somebody tell me his parents have just regular jobs making 250k each… I was like uh uh tell me more about your hard life… 🙄 Some people have no idea what financial struggle is.
People in general need to have their definition of rich calibrated. When it's not based on a failure of scale (saying that John Boyega and Jeff Bezos are on the same tier, calling $60k a yr wealthy, etc.) it's based on aesthetics ("but how can be rich if wearing trucker hat instead of suit & tie?")
I literally saw people trying to claim one of the co-conspirators in the kidnapping plot again Gov. Whitmer of MI working class because in the photo the article they were replying to used his front yard was messy. They said this while the guy's $75,000+ truck was visible in the same photo.
Nothing much to it. His dad was a very nice guy. Good dentist. His office was on a quite side street in Dobbs Ferry, NY. Never met the son. He was still in high school when I was a patient. I always like to say my teeth help create Facebook.😄
Median dentist in the US earns 150k. Median psychiatrist around 220k.
It’s not necessarily the price, these are not outlandish salaries for those professions in western countries as far as I can tell. It’s just who pays the cost that differs.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Then in its infancy had a massive media blitz to make it the hot talking point by every talking head on television.

FUCK YEAH!
Old old study... "rich" is $75k/yr more than I make... said nearly every respondent of the survey no matter their income.
35% of the students attended on scholarship when Zuckerberg attended.
You gotta find a different hobby - dude grew up rich by every definition of the modern world.
this is family money, not career money.
