Yes, specifically that scenario involving a US Citizen at a border entry being questioned by CBP.

You can never predict what the police are going to do. All you can do is assert your rights consistently and don't give them any information.
If they're going to violate your rights, they were going to whether you talk or not. In this case, they let Hasan go as soon as he asked for a lawyer.

He just asked if he was being detained and if not can he leave.
