Thompson does a good job describing the problem and displaying the evidence. The part I take issue with is the bizarre insertion of his political analysis, and his conclusion that those who supported Harris just assumed she would win and didn't see Trump coming b/c they are out of touch
I live in one of the most liberal parts of the country and almost everyone I know was very nervous about a Trump win. Even us woke elites can read a poll...
This is fake news. If you read the article, you'll see that they have no real definition for being alone and the statistics used are dubious at best. It could be the reason crime is down since most people are victimized by the people they know.
Social media is an addictive poison, every bit as dangerous as alcohol, tobacco and opiates. Our children should not be allowed to participate the same way we don’t permit them to drink or smoke. The sooner the nation acknowledges this and regulates it accordingly the better
I’m not alone by choice - I reach out to friends and family and new people but no one reciprocates. I get tired of putting effort into relationships and no effort is given back. I’ve given up at this point.
This. I had a “friend” I would meet for dinner every few weeks. Hard to schedule, lots of last minute changes. I realized I was the only one prioritizing this and the only one reaching out. I quit initiating. Nothing more, just that. We haven’t spoken since. It’s been years now.
