Weeks ago our nation’s universities were admired, a dream of many. This administration wants to take that away and it’s disgraceful. Under educating, the people will make them open to doing menial work for little pay. What a poorly vailed attempt at destroying the middle class. This is unamerican.
This is happening so fast, most don’t know - and won’t believe - it’s happening. But the economic consequences won’t be limited to the universities themselves, they’ll devastate economic prospect of generation(s) of Americans.
During the 2nd coming of the MAGA Messiah, King Donald I, as the US economy continues to collapse, Trump's war on expertise, truth & knowledge accelerates.
America’s democracy is under siege. You’ve elected not just an authoritarian kleptocrat, but a Russian-installed Manchurian candidate. Trump his cabinet and Elon Musk serve foreign interests, the absolute dismantling of your republic. History warns: the longer you deny it, the higher the price.
As a fine artist with a college freshman (a musician, no less), a high school junior, and a full professor NIH-funded spouse, I worry about these things on the daily. All of our futures seem so tenuous
That’s what they want — an uneducated public that can be swayed by disinformation and doesn’t know how they think critically or for themselves. It’s the only way today’s GOP can create and maintain the voters they need to retain power.
With two kids currently in college, I’ve thought of nothing else than what’s in this article for the past two months and it scares the hell out of me. I raised smart kids and wanted them to be exposed to different points of view and find their own way, like I did. What will happen now?
I feel for you. My kids are in their second and third years, respectively, so at least I know they’ve had that much of a traditional college experience. Kids coming in after this year may not get that for even a single year.
My neighbor girls I’m really close to are a college junior, high school senior, and high school sophomore. The eldest will be fine (although grad school may no longer be an option, but I’m worried about her sisters. Not that they aren’t already smarter than Trump, but that’s a shockingly low bar.
Timothy Snyder said today the attack on the whole Education System - from top to bottom - is to turn us into a nation of poorly educated, non inquisitive drones suitable only as parts of a fascistic empire-machine.
This is the guy that wrote On Tyranny, so he knows a thing or two.
That's the point. He's following Project 2025's playbook on eradicating education for the middle class so he can ultimately end the middle class and turn us all into serfs, via Dark Enlightenment's 'Techno-Feudal' philosophy that he and his buddies (Vance, Thiel, etc.) are installing even now.

And for what?
Is this what anyone wants?
Grateful for this article.

But what he could’ve done as the interpreted reporter is to say,
this shows me and the American people the fragrant disregard for recordkeeping as well as security in the administration
Get some narrative out there
