I fully stand behind supporting creators and their work. But we are at the point of capitalism where the people that actually make the products can't even watch it because they are getting nuked from the face of the earth. I had to go through extremes to see infinity train.
Comments
A. Getting noticed
B. Getting someone to actually go through with the support when there's litterally thousands of people vying for that $5
C. Getting enough people to do A, and B.
I've had a patreon since its inception and today I sit at a cool $7 after Patreon takes its cut.
Corporate and art never used to mix but now that it does, this is whatcha get
Media conservation is taking. A serious toll these days by corporations wiping offerings
Doesn't solve all the issues as disc rot is a problem(I bought the anniversary edition of the dnd cartoon after the fact & it's broken which is a huge disappointment) but it's a start
The problem with anime in particular is that like all of it goes theough crunchyroll, a company which i absolutely hate.
Id love to give my money directly to the animators if possible
Also, for larger works, a person may get memory holed. Some video game studios (Gearbox among them IIRC) will simply not credit workers who leave or get fired before project completion.
a '.to' website?
SCREW YOU CAPITALISM
I pirated shows like Adventure Time (no discs except Come Along with Me + only first four seasons on Netflix), Steven Universe (no discs, no streaming), Over the Garden Wall (no discs, stream version was taken off the platform)
There are so many event things in pokemon that only happen in America Japan and maybe the UK which leaves so many others waiting
I used to love Disney films, still do in a way, but I can't stand the live action direction & so many of the animated ones feel formualic
That along with so many sequels way past when they already had a phenomenonal ending
Chinese bootleggers showed more love and care to the show than Disney
There are so many things that just aren't available in a way that's accessible
There was a limited edition run of the dnd cartoon only
I loved that they never talked down to kids and each episode handled a different type of crime drama
Digital media
Also 3d printing
Can't fucking take from me what I have in physical
It's bloody sad.
If your company isnf producing what I want then I will find it another way or else it will be lost to time
I had made a comment on Twitter how it's sad that there's not alot of anything these days
sometimes the only stuff I can find is funko 🤢 I'm good
Though of course I do enjoy supporting small makers as well. But you get what I mean
