Trump announced the tariffs with a timeline so far out because he fully expected other countries to cave, come crawling, and he can claim to be tough. Instead they have formed alliances with each other and Trump is fucked, backed into a corner he created. Now he has to pivot and create this “war”.

Only point left on their to-do list is taking over Taiwan. Seeing how Trump is extortion Ukraine, Taipei is probably already taking to Beijing about a deal.

China has been winning for so long anyway. They own so much of our national debt we can’t really move much on them. They are Elons biggest market so Trump won’t do anything there anyway. And as far as Taiwan goes, Trump has already given signals in interviews that China is welcome to make that move.
