My insurance guy definitely thought "tree come down on power line and rip electrical meter off house" was an emergency.

Oh no! You should definitely have a stopcock somewhere (under the kitchen sink is generally the first place to look, although until we had the kitchen done ours was in an incredibly awkward corner behind the washing machine...)

😬We deliberately asked for ours to be somewhere more accessible as we normally turn the water off if we go away (we came home once to find that the header tank in the loft had clearly been leaking for some time, and other family members have had worse...)
