That truly does suck.
Sabres day will come... Hopefully...
Even worse was 1999. No Goal!!
Skates in the crease disallowed goals all season long. The officials saw how close Hull was to the net and should have instantly reviewed the "goal".
Guess it was past their bedtimes.
That's my rant.
I still think about that play today. Based on how the rule was called that year (ridiculous, but that's a different convo) that's clear as day no goal. One of the worst calls, ever.
I desperately wanted to be a goalie because of Mike Palmateer lol. then I got to play one game in midget, we lost 14-2 and I realized scoring was more fun.
Had a season of house league (Atom) where we had no actual goalie. Not enough goalies signed up that season I guess. My dad who was coaching asked who wants to play goal, we all put our hands up. Everyone on the team got 2 practices and 2 games in net. League gave the team goalie gear for the season
Also I am right handed, but shoot right (usually for lefties) and play goal with my catcher on my right hand because of Palmateer, and I still have a soft spot for lefty goalies lol. It feels super awkward to catch with my left hand because I have to flip the stick to stick handle.
I borrowed a guy's stick (RH) while playing around after pick-up and used the boards to make a cheeky little move to keep the puck off of another guy. It blew his mind. 🤣
Luckily I got to see Potvin before actually playing goal.
Unfortunately, the Bester 5-hole was burned far enough into my psyche to keep me out of the bigs.
On the bird app, I have a ton of Leafs fans friends.
We♥️giving each other jabs at each others team.
I've often told them that if it isn't the #NHLBruins year, there's not another team I want to see win more than Toronto. #legit
I actually had season tickets to an AHL team when Marchy was in Providence and we played them frequently…I was so happy when him, McQuaid, and Rask were called up to Boston so I no longer had to hate them lol
That’s awesome! I had tickets for the Manchester Monarchs for 10 seasons…didn’t get to witness them win the Calder Cup in person because it was an away game and I had work, but it was such a great feeling
The team I rooted for in 1994 but not in 2011.
I had a Canucks fan tell me that you're all taking good care of this guy for me...
He seems to be thriving there.
Hockey is a minority sport in Scotland, so I got into it through playing NHL 2K7 on the 360. I had to choose a favourite team on startup and I've been a Leafs fan ever since 😅
No hate here, people get too toxic over the Golden Knights. Just wish their org would do better by their players but a cup run in year one set a tone that is hard to keep up with.
On Twitter (and to an extent Tumblr as well) people would constantly trash on Hawks fans because of the 2010 shit to the point where it led to harassment (including a Hawks fan getting an SA threat). So yeah, it sucks and I'm glad we're leaving the "cheering for x team is bad" mentality behind.
It's literally in your bio that you are a VGK fan lol, so there should be no hate for you saying it. That being said, your team was gifted everything so congrats 🤪
This team is going to be real good for a long time.
Great young talent and an impressive stockpile of players to still come up through the pipeline.
Sucks about Seguin though.
That's a tough season ending loss.
I was born in 84. I couldn’t not love Gretz and the Oilers. The Flames is the first Cup win I remember and will always hold a special place in my heart. The Passion was just getting underway when I got fully into hockey.
Senators, because I am a glutton for disappointment.
Got into them during the Hamburglar comeback run in 2015, and besides our other fairytale run to the ECF in 2017 (which seems like an enternity ago), its been very much resigning myself to "well, maybe next year" by mid December.
This is Vegas we are talking about. We can just force a team to take on one of our bad contracts. Kelly McCrimmon forced San Jose to retain 18% of Hertl's entire contract.
Been a die hard member of Leafs Nation for too many disappointing years lol. When it finally pays off tho, man will it be glorious, just hope I’m alive to see it lol. Cheers to level headed hockey fans no matter who they root for 🍻🏒

But game 7 against Carolina.... I bawled. I was 21 at the time..
That had to be tough for Sabres fans.
I know the outcome sucked for you but that was a fantastic series by both teams.

Also in love with the Blue Jackets.
And I won't give you hell for liking Vegas, I'm rather fond of the little misfits myself.
But I love hockey so much that I follow all 32 teams, I support them all 😊🏒
I also follow the #PWHL
