Incidentally, what I needed was 10 pairs of those disposable hand warmers you shake and then put in your gloves, because I did two long rides this weekend without them and am not going out without them again

I was actually challenged by a chemistry teacher to make one of my own. I'm not implying it is simple or economical to diy one, I made one in a jam jar, though, and it was interesting.

My teacher helped me get some of the ingredients. It was fun and insightful.
