+1. TBH I’ve watched quite a lot of mine’s Roblox play and whilst it’s been incomphensible Zoomer nonsense and vulgarity I’ve never seen anything like the things they describe. So, y’know.

Yeah, same here. I *think* my kids are aware enough to let me know if any weird stuff goes on, but I will show them the specific report and make sure they understand its importance.
So had a chat to son (15 now) and his GF. “Yeah it’s full of creepy paedos.” Did you not think to tell me? “Eh; we just avoided people like that.” Sigh.
Anecdotally, 2 of my net folks told me they where catfished on Roblox before they were 18. Kids need their own place to be, and their isn’t enough of them. I got kinda pissed knowing adults had failed them on purpose.
I don't understand why it's even possible to share files on these platforms, or why accounts marked as under 18 can just pop into various rooms. These companies don't even make a cursory effort to keep their users safe.
Seems pretty straightforward to lock registration behind a parental password, disable all but the most cursory chatting, disable file sharing, maybe send chat logs to a monitoring adult. Or, like... literally anything? Feels like I can hop on almost any platform and see something dodgy pretty quick.
What would you say to a flat age ban on all social media/games with private chat enabled till kids are 18? I hate insulting the intentions of young adults but like, its for the good of both sides. Adults can’t seem to be trusted either.
I don't think I'd go as high as 18 but generally speaking, yeah. There needs to be some fairly hard line regulation of one-on-one unmonitored interactions in kids games.

I'm usually calm about addressing these things, but let's just shoot all these fucks.
