So much of our media is created as a public good but the platforms that drive traffic incentivize media to focus on what drives clicks rather than on what music journalists are passionate about.

Media needs to invest to balance content, plus build and replenish its audiences, much like venues do.

I know how rare live ads have been on Drowned in Sound over the past 25 years, despite huge sums being spent on marketing shows.

I also know how much editorial was/is expected for free that was hard to justify commissioning - especially the research time to find great new stuff to surface!

Feels like there's also a need for artists to work with media to create videos and audio content for their channels, rather than having to endlessly interview and edit videos of themselves.

I'm sure promoters could benefit from having videos made for the common goal of championing the artists too.
