As someone who's day job includes educating people about spotting scams I can say with 100% certainty that no, even though we are some of the most scammed people on Earth we are not great at spotting scams. Especially the ones we want to be true.

X and FB are propaganda machines. Governments should consider suing them for the damage they do. Or perhaps users file a class action for negligence- management and their Boards know there are insufficient safeguards preventing con artists from flourishing on their platforms.
