If you get a chance you should go to the All Points West Distillery in Newark, NJ and do they tour, they go through the whole history of distilling spirits in the US, its a very good tour

Right, I totally hear you, but, if you don't want to drink Champagne, there are lot of countries that produce good, sparking, dry, white wine. I am not sure if drink similar to bourbon is produced in any other countries? I do not think Scotch or Irish whisk(e)y is comparable...

Yeah, that's what I figured. I actually have never drank Canadian whiskey so I don't know what it tastes like. I realize Canadian whiskey is a whole world unto itself, and I would be curious to try it, but there is just to much nice American whiskey to taste and I can only drink so much!
