The games against Newcastle and Arsenal showed their tactic of defensive spoiling. They commit dozens of minor fouls, which are not enough to be given under current guidance. I suspect this hampers creative players like the type you mention. Players who can deal with that must be hard to find.

I can see why they're not rushing it, because the risks are there for all to see. I'd understand if they waited for summer and tried for Semenyo, because he can handle the pressing, is two-sided, and is Premier League Proven.

Let's say, hypothetically we offered £70m for Semenyo today. Would Bournemouth be in a position to turn it down? Totally accept the risk is high buying a young, unproven player (we did that with Odobert as well) but there's an obvious justification for paying a premium now for proven quality.

Yeah, not saying that's necessarily who we should buy or what we should offer, but the general point is that we're a little desperate and therefore need to be prepared to pay a little over the odds for players that can make an immediate impact. We did in 2008, and our form is as bad right now.
