Much larger install bases can justify that mandate. Not so much for Xbox. Really only makes sense for games that will be multiplatform.

The latest Circana reports for 2024 said the majority of console sales were those with no disc drives.

I don't care if it makes sense. They sold a console with a disc drive this generation & I expect to be able to use it for their 1st party games. Charge me $5 extra for it & sell it direct from their own online store if they have to. Just make sure the option is there.

Yeah man I get it but I’m looking at it with my business hat on and that makes it a lot harder to justify the cost of printing discs when your main sales proposition is a subscription service.

Hard sales are not the game anymore.
