One way I think about why the modern internet is less fun, even though there's more fun stuff perhaps, is that constant branding sort of ate the world? Meaning, in a way that now seems impossible, you as an artist used to be able to make something, show up in a relevant community and say "hey look!"

finance also instigates lots of things that have absolutely never been worth doing, so if something is not worth doing but is happening anyway, we can be absolutely certain that the underlying driving force is financial.

I built an app around this premise, who's ready, and it failed miserably.
I noticed that youtube wants about 3m views on shorts now to get monetized or 3k on videos. But on top of my issues, and how little I can edit most videos, I really don't think I can promote my channel to 3m views.
