You can learn A LOT from other people's experiences with writing and what did work for them. It often times introduces ideas that you wouldn't have & and can help you out of a bind.

Writing "advice" is ALWAYS just someone saying what worked FOR THEM. Take it or leave it, but don't judge yourself by someone else's methods.
