He would've kept the mustache if DiC wasn't worried about getting sued by MGM due to the similarities with the Pink Panther's Inspector Clouseau character.
I hope you give it a watch soon! The episodes from the first season are especially good (especially the action sequences due to them being done by the legendary animation studio, TMS Entertainment).
As soon as you said TMS and good animation, I instantly thought of Cybersix... I can definitely vouch for that, their animation has always been on point
