You're definitely not wrong, but I think we're losing the plot if we start delving into the cost benefit analysis of killing someone. The state shouldn't kill people.
sorry to be uninformed : so death row inmates do more appeals than gen pop? or just that those appeals take many more resources bc it’s a death penalty case?
Here's a fun fact. FL once wanted to pass a law requiring all executions to happen within 5 years of sentencing, regardless of pending appeals, ostensibly to cut the cost of executions. The average time for a DP appeal at the time was 8 years.
