Not a shade on arts people who studied at Oxbridge or anything but it makes you wonder how some people managed to get in the industry…the weird pathways that have been existing in this country. Some logic to all this? Some form of natural progression? 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

It perpetuates Britain's class system. Most people never get into Cambridge as they go to the "wrong" secondary or can't afford it or even if they do get in they feel like total outsiders. However talented the actors who come from
Footlights are, they're all so posh. And it's getting worse

Oxford Revue is similar to Footlights and has also produced some great comedians and actors.

Hello 👋 Presumably, they were part of the Footlights at Cambridge, which is a lot like rep theatre and has been a training ground for a lot of actors and comedians (some of whom I love). Footlights attract a lot of influential industry people. I'm not saying it's right BTW.

Sure, Footlights, which is essentially a student drama society, right? And these people coming from there are good and talented and all that but i can’t imagine someone from another uni drama society getting the opportunity even to audition for being part of an ensemble for one season with RSC…

Not necessarily more talented than actors at other Uni's. I agree with you - the fact that top industry people go there proves that there's an inbalance. Kate Beckinsale performed for the Oxford Revue & landed a plum role in a movie. Look at Eton, St Paul's and other private schools too.
